Fall 2025 NAATPl Event: Reusable Polish teaching materials

Creating additional instructional materials has become a standard practice for instructors and teachers of Polish as a foreign language (PFL), although such materials are often limited to specific grammatical or cultural topics. Reusable teaching materials (also known as reusable learning objects) address this problem by promoting the development of resources that can be adapted for use across different student levels and cohorts.

In the first Fall 2025 event, we will hear from PFL practitioners in North America who have created instructional materials designed to meet the needs of students at different levels. While reusable teaching materials span from cultural artifacts to audiovisual products, they all lend themselves to extension across multiple learning environments, saving their authors time. Each presenter will introduce a specific instructional item (e.g., graphic, video clip, audio file, etc.) and briefly explain how it can be deployed in more than one course setting to help develop different Polish language skills.

The goal of this event is to encourage PFL instructors to consider how their teaching materials can be extended to serve various student groups, as well as a range of communicative and grammatical objectives. The informal theme of the Fall 2025 jarmark (“show-and-tell”) event will be borders and border-crossing, broadly conceived.

The event will feature short presentations followed by an open discussion. In early September, the Zoom link to the event will be distributed to all active NAATPl members. If are not a current member, please make sure to join us using this form to access the event. Traditionally, the working languages of the event will be Polish and English.
