With the 2026–27 academic year underway, it is time to take stock of Polish language enrollments across North American institutions. The North American Association of Teachers of Polish (NAATPl) invites all Polish-teaching faculty to participate in this year’s enrollment survey, which will remain open through December 1, 2026.
The NAATPl 2026 Polish Language Enrollment Survey includes the following four sections:
- General courses information – Whether Polish language courses were offered at your institution and, if so, in what modality (in-person, online, hybrid).
- Enrollment data – Student numbers across three proficiency levels (elementary, intermediate, advanced), as well as heritage Polish classes, if applicable. This section also includes any courses in Polish culture at given institutions.
- Teaching materials – Information on textbooks, grammar books, authentic materials, and digital resources used in your courses.
- Additional institutional context – Space to share insights on the state of Polish programs at different institutions and any related thoughts.
Compared with last year, the 2026 survey on Polish language programs includes new questions on Polish culture coursework, course-sharing arrangements, and institutional context. It also provides dedicated space for respondents to share examples of authentic learning materials and to report cumulative attendance at Polish and Poland-related events held during the previous academic year. We hope these additions will help us gain a deeper understanding of recent trends in Polish language and culture programs across North American institutions.

Survey responses will be accepted until December 1, 2026, and the results will be presented during our final event of the year on December 9, 2026 held via Zoom. This event is open to all Polish language professionals, regardless of current NAATPl membership status. To join us, please complete the form located here.
