The North American Association of Teachers of Polish is pleased to announce a competition for the NAATPl Student Project Award. The contest seeks to recognize students’ original work that celebrates, promotes, and explores the Polish language and culture. We encourage creative submissions that demonstrate students’ engagement with the Polish cultural heritage through thoughtfully developed content.
Format
Projects may include (but are not restricted to) the following:
- written works (essays, blogs, creative fiction, poetry, etc.)
- audiovisual forms (videos, posters, podcasts, etc.)
- interactive media (websites, games, etc.)
Eligibility
The competition is open to high school and university undergraduate students who study the Polish language in the United States or Canada.
Awards
- 1st place: $500
- 2nd place: $300
- 3rd place: $200
Prizes may be awarded to individual or group projects.
Submission guidelines
All nominations must be sent by the student or students’ teacher to the NAATPI email (naatplorganization@gmail.com) with a subject line “Student Project Award,” and include the following:
- the student or students’ name(s), school (and/or program), grade/year of study, and a short bio;
- a brief description of the project (200 words or less);
- file(s) or a working link to websites, online platforms, and/or file(s) containing the project or its representation (in the case of non-digital media).
Evaluation
Each submission will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Relevance: Does the project reflect a meaningful connection to Polish language and/or culture?
- Originality: Does the project demonstrate creative thinking and/or a unique approach?
- Depth of Research: Is the project informed by accurate and thoughtful content?
- Quality: Is the project well executed and polished?
- Impact: Does the project have the potential to inspire interest in Polish language and culture?
Deadline
Nominations via email should be received by March 31, 2026.
Winners will be announced by May 31, 2026.
