Aleksandra Majkowska Smith is a Polish philologist, a lecturer of the Polish language at Loyola University Chicago and Oakton College, and a radio journalist. She earned her master’s degrees in Polish philology from the University of Warsaw (one of her specializations is teaching Polish as a foreign language). Before moving to the United States, she worked at the Polonicum Centre of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners at the University of Warsaw, the Warsaw School of Economics, and Lazarski University in Warsaw. Her research interests include the Polish language and culture, language of mass media, 20th-century Polish literature, European drama literature, modernist and contemporary Polish literature.
