Paulina Duda is a visiting assistant professor of Polish language and culture at Brown University as well as an assistant professor at the New Media Arts Department at the Polish Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw. She received her PhD from the University of Michigan in 2017, her MA from the University College London, and her BA from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Her scholarly work focuses on the intersection of nationalism and filmmaking in Poland, film production and distribution under communism, the director’s role in society as well as music videos and new visual arts. She publishes essays, translations, and reviews in “Studies in Eastern European Cinema,” “East European Film Bulletin,” and “Words Without Borders.” She is also a jury member of the long-standing Ann Arbor Polish Film Festival.
